Apanga Mahila Bal Vikas Sanstha

ApangaMahilaBalVikasSanstha initiated a number of schemes coordinated under the project “ASHADEEP” keeping in the mind needs of society and approaching the problems of physically challenged children and women with a multidisciplinary approach.

Present Activities

“Ashadeep” Center For Rehabilitation Ff The Disabled

Physically challenged individuals have to face various social and economic problems. Sanstha is committed to the cause of helping physically challenged persons, tackle them. This center extends need-based support to the beneficiaries in various ways:

1.1 Sponsorship:
Financial support is provided for aides such as calipers (orthopedically handicapped), Audiobook readers ( visually impaired), hearing aids (deaf and dumb), or for co-curricular and extracurricular activities, like books, computer courses, conveyance, etc.

1.2 SnehiMandal (Group of friends):
This club for handicapped youth aims to provide a platform for interaction, exchange of ideas, appreciation, and counseling of the

members. Annual activities include-

  • Felicitation of disabled students for their achievements in various fields.
  • Presentation of “Late UshaSant Memorial award” to a person considered as a role model for the younger generation.
  • AshadeepVyakhyanmala: Invited lectures by renowned experts in different fields (see list).

1.3 Academic Support Center For Disabled:

  • This center extends support for the following academic activities
  • Audiobook center:
  • Audiobooks for various universities and competitive examinations are recorded by the members and shared with the students as per the need of the visually impaired students.
    Audio recording of a large number of general books from various fields are
          >Available for sharing. ( Link for list of books )
          >Writers Club:
    Awarenssprogramms are arranged in colleges to motivate normal students to help as writers for blind examinees in university and competitive examinations.
    The writer for examination is arranged on request.

1.4 Divyanga Prerana Kendra:
The center aims at the overall personality development of divyanga youth, and has the following activities

  • Sports:
    >Participation of divyanga players in indoor and outdoor sports such as chess, cricket, etc is encouraged.
    >Installation of Ashadeep Blind Women’s cricket team installed( 2018), and organizing matches (Link for cricket match).
    >Coaching for competitive exam.
    >Counseling and guidance center for Divyanga(Established 2020).
    >Counseling session for Divyanga students with professional.
    >Counselors are arranged on request.

Ashadeep Health And Nutrition Centre

Nutrition is an integral component of health but is commonly neglected. The center aims to create awareness in society about the importance of nutrition, especially for women and children. Integrated Nutrition rehabilitation is a proactive approach for reducing the incidence of nutrition-related disorders with due consideration to local resources and local food culture. The slogan is “Think Global, Eat Local,” with a focus on combining local food culture and indigenous resources to improve the nutrition and health of society and spread the message,” Nutrition for Everybody” through different activities.

  • Health And Nutrition Awareness Promotion Activities “AharJagar”:

   >Nutrition awareness programs are organized for different groups, eg homemakers, school students, slum dwellers, parent groups in pre-primary schools (Balwadi), pregnant and lactating mothers, senior citizens, etc.
   >Interactive ‘hands-on’ cooking demonstrations are given to young mothers in the community for improvement of nutritive value by proper combination of local foods.
   >Publication of articles, booklets related to nutrition awareness in local media.
   >Participation in exhibitions, to promote the message of Nutrition through charts and slogans. Promote the message of nutrition by public participation.

2.2 Nutri Food Production Center:
The objective is to promote traditional nutritious and healthy foods, based on local ingredients and compatible with local food culture, with an emphasis on multigrain products, a wide range of products are developed for health-conscious individuals by this center and are regularly available the range includes,
>Ragimalt, Ragi toffee, Ragi vita.
>Multigrain biscuit.
>Multigrain mixes for different uses, eg. Nawannaatta, and suji, Soya enriched atta, thalipeeth atta,
>Ready mixes for traditional recipes like Uparpendi, Laddoo. Muthia, Paratha,
>Therapeutic foods: Grain-based high protein foods “Poshankur “for convalescence, Ready to use “Sampoorna”, for tube feed, Iron-rich flour mix “Urja” for anemia.

2.3 Projects:
>Training of Anganwadi workers for preparation of nutritious       supplementary foods at Sillari(2000-2001).
>Supply of ready-to-eat supplementary food for malnourished children in Melghat (1997).
>Nutrition awareness and training program for women in Nagpur slums, supported by SIDBI(2004-2005).
>A mini project on the impact of nutrition education on adolescent girls was carried out in collaboration with Matru Shakti Kalyan Kendra Nagpur( 2012-13).
>“Action hemoglobin” project “Diet based approach for alleviation of anemia in college students in Nagpur” was undertaken, in collaboration with Rajkumar Kewalramani Kanya Mahavidyalaya which emphasized the importance of nutrition education through diet intervention(2013-2014).
>Anemia alleviation project for students at Shankar Nagar Mook Badhir Vidyalaya(2017-2018).

Ashadeep Udyog Mandir

Udyogmandir is established for the purpose of promoting income-generating activities for disabled/needy women. Informal training and marketing support is extended for activities like making paper bags, candles, and simple gift items like napkins, purses, bags. etc.
Projects

  • One-week training program for stitching of 10 types of items was conducted for 10 participants, which included 3 blind students. (2010)
  • Two weeks program for handmade paper items were organized in collaboration with Blind School and Dharamitra (Wardha 2011).
  • One week training programme for paper mache dolls .
